Our Mission:
We encourage Sol Travelers to discover their strengths and weaknesses in the wilderness of the desert. When we take responsibility for our life experiences and explore our connections to the natural world, we begin to understand ourselves. Only then can we become stewards of our public lands.
What is a Sol Journey?
A Sol Journey is recreation with a purpose. We facilitate contemplation in order to access to truths and patterns of our reality. While drifting through the majesty of the desert, we will purge what is no longer serving us, open ourselves up to our authentic expression, and discover our true purpose for how we show up day to day. Our main philosophy is that our external world is a reflection of the relationship we have with ourselves. When we can begin to know ourselves and gain our bearings within the bigger picture of existence, we find more fulfillment in our lives.
We have many tools to explore along the way which we may ultimately integrate into our daily living. Each expedition is four days and three nights. We will camp with the elements, connect with the ancestors, participate in a guided process toward self-mastery with the Sol Journeys manual, and have an opportunity to receive a "vision" to bring back to our everyday world.
Note: Sol Journeys' foundation is built on sobriety; being fully present for the process of introspection is essential. It is not a prerequisite to be sober before or after your adventure; during it is paramount. All guides and support staff will honor this requirement.

Why Sol Journeys?
Entrenched in the epoch of technology and the fast paced modern world, many of us have forgotten our internal compass and our connection to the whole. Sol Journeys is a way to extract one's self from the hustle of life and find our core essence within canyon country. We will have an opportunity to unravel the discord in our lives within a safe space while discovering depths of meaning within the self. This is not a typical adventure where we will be entertained and catered to. This experience requires full participation with food prep, setting up personal space, self-care, self-responsibility, and group activities. A disconnection from our natural rhythms has brought us to this point, we get to choose what we will create from here.
Who Sol Journeys?
Sol Journeys is for anyone who is seeking meaning and accountability in their life. This experience is also designed for ladies only, family only, corporate groups, at-risk youth, veterans, recovering addicts, abused women, and estranged families to better understand each other. With each audience, there will be unique challenges and background sensitivities; we will customize each program to support the overall process of the entire group. In a group setting, it is vital that each participant chooses to be a part of the Sol Journey program of their own accord; we cannot be pressured to experience what we are not ready for.
Note: Self-reflection can be unsettling as we step out of our comfort zones. We need to be ready to take responsibility for our own process and respect the space for everyone to have their own experience and connection.

When to Sol Journey?
Due to the variable nature of each season and the conditions present, each retreat experience will be scheduled individually. Random acts of Mother Nature cannot be prevented and we will plan accordingly. Journeys will begin on Thursday and finish on Sunday, this is flexible per trip and group. Our season starts March 1st and ends November 1st. Reserve the date for your retreat experience, the sooner the better for our planning purposes--there are limited spaces available. Where there is a will, there is a way!
